As “oral surgery professionals,”
we provide more specialized and advanced treatments.

Oral surgery is a medical specialty that specializes in treating illnesses and injuries that occur in the mouth, jaw, and around the face.
Unlike general treatments such as cavities and periodontal disease, oral surgery primarily deals with more complex cases that require surgical procedures (such as wisdom tooth extraction, temporomandibular joint disorder, trauma, and tumors).
Ginza Wisdom Teeth and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Clinic
employs dentists who specialize in oral surgery.

Medical Information

  • Wisdom tooth extraction

To prevent problems, we recommend consulting us early.
Depending on the way wisdom teeth grow and their position, they can cause oral problems. Leaving them untreated can increase various risks, including cavities, periodontal disease, pressure on neighboring teeth, crooked teeth, and bad breath.
If they grow straight, they can be easily extracted, but if they grow sideways or are “impacted” in the bone, surgical treatment is required.

  • Temporomandibular joint disorder

If you experience jaw pain, clicking sounds, or difficulty opening your mouth, don’t ignore these symptoms and contact us for a consultation.
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) is known as the third most common dental disease after cavities and periodontal disease, and can cause symptoms that interfere with your daily life.

  • Pericoronitis

It is important to address wisdom tooth inflammation early, as it can be dangerous if left untreated.
Wisdom teeth are third molars that begin to grow in around the age of 18, and it is rare for them to grow in straight.
If they grow sideways or at an angle, dirt tends to accumulate around them, which can cause bacteria to get into the gums and cause inflammation (pericoronitis).

  • Athlete Dentistry

Another weapon for athletes is the oral cavity.
The athletic dentistry at the Wisdom Teeth and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Clinic Ginza values a perspective that only those who actually compete can understand.
When exerting maximum power in an instant, people naturally support their bodies by “chewing.”
At that time, the balance of the teeth, jaws, and occlusion is closely related to performance.
At our clinic, we provide comprehensive services from prevention to performance improvement and return support to maximize athletes’ competitive abilities from a dental perspective.

    Why Choose Us?

  • REASON-01Oral surgery professionals on staff

At our clinic, the director is directly responsible for surgical procedures such as wisdom tooth extraction. The director has a broad perspective in general dentistry while also being well versed in surgical treatment, and in 2024, he achieved the highest number of DIO implant cases in Japan. When specialized judgment is required for difficult cases or cases such as temporomandibular joint disorder, we work in cooperation with a part-time oral surgeon to provide safe and optimal treatment.

  • REASON-02“Proactive treatment” that moves forward together with patients

Our approach to treatment is not just to “relieve pain,” but also to consider “what can be done to prevent recurrence.”
At the initial consultation, we provide thorough counseling and perform detailed examinations using CT scans and other methods, and propose a treatment plan that takes into account both current problems and future risks. We value the patient’s understanding and consent, and work together with them to achieve treatment.

  • REASON-03“Patient-centered” treatment style

    Our “Patient-Centered” Treatment Style
We believe that no treatment is possible without the patient’s understanding and consent. We
carefully explain treatment options, their pros and cons, and future impacts, making it our top priority to ensure that patients make their own choices and are satisfied with them. Please feel free to consult us about any concerns, no matter how trivial.
We provide a comfortable and reassuring space.

  • REASON-04Dental CBCT enables highly accurate diagnosis

To ensure safer and more reliable treatment, our clinic has introduced dental CBCT. This allows us to grasp the position of wisdom teeth, the distance to the nerves, the condition of the temporomandibular joint, and other information in three dimensions, allowing us to accurately diagnose information that cannot be seen with conventional X-rays.
This allows us to visualize preoperative risks and ensure safer treatment.

  • REASON-05Gentle treatment that takes pain into consideration

To overcome the image of dental treatment as painful, we thoroughly consider pain, starting with the anesthesia stage. We are constantly developing techniques and innovations to minimize the burden on patients, such as using topical anesthesia in combination with other anesthesia and using innovative injection techniques.

Hygiene Management Supports Safety and Security
To prevent infection within our clinic, we strictly use disposable instruments, clean our treatment spaces, and maintain hygiene with high-level sterilized equipment.
We value creating a clean environment where all patients can visit with peace of mind.

FAQ

My wisdom teeth are coming in. Should I get them removed?
Wisdom teeth have a high risk of cavities and periodontal disease, which can have a negative impact on the alignment of your teeth and your bite.
However, the treatment varies depending on the condition and how they grow, so a decision must be made after checking with X-rays, etc. Please contact us first.
Can wisdom teeth be removed on the first day of my appointment?
Generally, this is possible. If you would like to have your teeth extracted on the day of your first visit, please make a reservation by phone in advance.
Our clinic can also handle the extraction of four teeth at the same time.
Can I have a tooth extracted if I am referred by another dental clinic?
Yes, we also handle tooth extractions for patients referred from other clinics.
We can handle most cases, including difficult cases and impacted teeth.
After the extraction, we monitor the progress and recommend that patients continue to visit their original dental clinic.
I have a clicking sound coming from my jaw. Is this a problem?
You may have temporomandibular joint disorder. If left untreated, it may worsen, so we recommend that you see a dentist as soon as possible.
At our clinic, we provide treatments such as splints (mouthpieces), exercise therapy, and drug therapy, depending on the symptoms.
How does treatment proceed during the first visit?
At the initial consultation, we will check whether you can open and close your jaw within a reasonable range.
If you experience pain, we will not force the movement and will instead use a splint (mouthpiece) to reduce the strain.
My jaw hurts and I can’t open my mouth. How can I treat it?
We will not forcefully open your jaw until the pain subsides. We will use a splint to reduce the strain on your jaw and proceed with treatment in stages.

Our mission is to help those who are struggling to find someone to talk to.

I am Ryuzo Kojima, director of the Ginza Wisdom Teeth and Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Clinic.
Our clinic specializes in wisdom tooth extraction, temporomandibular joint disorder treatment, and athlete’s dentistry. We do not provide general dental care, but rather our mission is to help those who are struggling to find a suitable dentist. Wisdom teeth can cause inflammation and cavities, and some people hesitate to visit a dentist due to the burden of finding a referral. However, at our clinic, our dentists, who are well-versed in surgical procedures, can provide on-site treatment. I have performed numerous surgical procedures in Shizuoka, and in 2024, we achieved the highest number of DIO implants in the country. We also focus on fundamental improvement of temporomandibular joint disorders, as well as bite alignment and mouthguard creation to support athletes.
